The Weather Channel Poses Challenge for Youth
The Weather Channel and its new Web site for kids,
www.theweatherchannelkids.com, are partnering with the By Kids For Kids (BKFK) organization for the "Going Green Challenge," a national competition that challenges America's teens to create and invent new methods to improve man's interaction with the environment.
The "
Going Green Challenge" opens new ways for young people to explore weather-related topics, both on the Web and in the real world. Contestants are asked to address topics such as water shed concerns and effects of global warming on the environment, which are covered on
www.theweatherchannelkids.com. The challenge will run through
December 31 and is open to all youth 19 years and under, with a Grand Prize of $10,000. In addition to receiving the $10,000 Grand Prize, the winner will have an opportunity to share the winning entry with a broad sector of the American public.
The Weather Channel will pay tribute to the winning entry with a special online feature. In addition, a weather expert from The Weather Channel will serve as one of the judges for the competition.
