Cable Cares!Cable Show 2008
Book Drive  Booth Number #2847

As part of the CableCares initiative, Cable in the Classroom is encouraging show attendees to bring a copy of an elementary school-level book to the convention and drop it off at the CableCares booth on the exhibit floor – or to make a donation to buy a book.  Books will be collected throughout the cable show and later delivered to schools.

 Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards

Congratulations to the winners of the 2008 Cable’s Leaders in Learning Awards! Selected from 44 finalists from around the country, winners will be honored at a Gala ceremony at the Library of Congress in June.

During their visit to Washington, DC, winners will learn from fellow awardees, attend cable network tours and screenings, and meet with members of Congress and cable and education leaders. Honorees also receive a $3,000 cash prize from Cable in the Classroom.

Cable in the Classroom: A Teacher's StoryThis short video features 8th grade, American History teacher, Eric Langhorst and demonstrates practical ways to use cable television programming and resources in the classroom.

Mr. Langhorst is a 2006 Cable's Leaders in Learning Award Winner and is the 2007/2008 Missouri Teacher of the Year. He has an extensive podcast, called Speaking of History, with a focus on education, technology and history.
