Virginia Bramante, Director, Technology and Web Strategy

Before joining Cable in the Classroom, Virginia consulted on web development and production in the areas of design, content and e-commerce. Prior to that, she was project manager and tech team leader for special in-house projects and ASP (Application Service Provider) products relating to all aspects of online grassroots advocacy at a Washington, DC-based firm. This included extensive work on a voter registration application and its compliance with current legislation (HAVA 2002 – Help America Vote Act), FEC (Federal Election Commission) requirements and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 that requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities; and, integration of an online fundraising/contribution application complete with an FEC legal compliance database. Virginia also has an extensive background with online marketing and search engine optimization for websites. She currently teaches a class for the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop on “Introduction to Web Design.”

A southern transplant, Virginia graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in International Relations, Economics and Business Administration. Virginia began her career on Capitol Hill teaching computer skills to Members of Congress and their staff. Leaving the political world to follow her passion in the horse industry, she spent several years in public relations and marketing working for a magazine, a trade association and a nonprofit group before transferring those skills to the communication medium of the Internet.

Virginia lives in the Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington DC. She no longer trains horses preferring the safer confines of the gym for exercise.
