Tips for selecting an effective bullying prevention program.


How do you choose an effective bullying prevention program?  What features and attributes should you be looking for?

Cyberbullying, like bullying on the playground, involves a complex mix of factors and there is no easy solution.  Simple approaches, like a zero tolerance policy or automatic suspension of bullies, do not, by themselves, address the underlying issues.  Researchers have been identifying approaches that do work, and they share some common elements.

If you’re looking for advice on starting a bullying prevention program at your school, or expanding what you’re already doing in a more comprehensive way, there are certain features you should look for in choosing which program to implement.
