Windward: Outsmart the Weather in a Race Around the World doesn’t require deck shoes or a life preserver—just a high-speed internet connection and a thirst for adventure. A free, online nautical challenge, Windward offers players a chance to take the helm and battle the elements as they plot the fastest course around the world.

Created by Cable in the Classroom with project partners Discovery Education and The Weather Channel, and in cooperation with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Windward showcases the many ways that broadband technology and interactive digital content enrich the teaching and learning of science concepts.

Anyone, from middle schoolers on up, will enjoy pitting their navigational skills against virtual waves and weather in this game designed to support meaningful, memorable learning in class and at home, by students, teachers, and family members.
