MTV Power of 12 Campaign
This year MTV marks its 20th anniversary in their efforts to empower young voters with its latest online game release, Fantasy Election 2012. The game is similar to Fantasy Football, but instead of rewarding touchdowns and penalizing interceptions, it rewards Presidential and Congressional candidates for telling the truth and answering voter’s questions. The game penalizes users for mudslinging and hiding who is donating to their election campaign. Bonus points are earned for getting informed, checking in to political events and testing your political knowledge. Players will compete against their friends to win bragging rights, and players over 13 will have the chance to win thousands of prizes including VMA tickets, laptops, and gift cards. The game is accessible via Facebook, however, there are ways for teachers to utilize the game’s ideas and concepts in the classroom should this site not be available in the classroom.
