This year marks the 10th anniversary of September 11th, 2001, and there are numerous articles, ceremonies, and television specials commemorating what happened at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, PA. The events of that day continue to have a profound impact on America and our relations with the world.
Cable networks are providing a wide array of original programs, websites, and activities that teachers and parents can use to help children make sense of the heroism and tragedy of September 11, as well as explore the different ways the events of that day continue to reverberate through our culture, politics, economy, and foreign policy.
Note: Some of the programs listed may contain graphic scenes that might be difficult to watch, but that are important to understanding what happened. These may not be appropriate for younger audiences. We recommend recording and previewing the programs to determine suitability for your students or children.
