Rachel Vallieres Macias, Director, Cable System Relations Rachel Macias serves as the primary contact for system-level personnel at Cable in the Classroom (CIC). She works closely with systems on CIC’s programs and materials and also creates, manages and implements resources, messages and projects for systems to use at the local level. She previously worked for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), an independent federal organization advising Congress on Medicare policy, as their Manager of Information Technology. Before that, Ms. Macias served as program manager of Marketing at USinternetworking (USi), an Application Service Provider, where she helped create the company’s employee-managed charitable foundation, USiConnects. She managed the day-to-day operations. The foundation received four awards in its second year of existence, including commendations from President Bush and two U.S. Senators. Prior to working at USi, she worked at National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) on the cable industry’s The Future is on Cable initiatives, including the On-Time Guarantee and other public affairs programs. She has served on multiple Boards of Directors for nonprofits, including Washington/Baltimore’s Women in Cable & Telecommunications Chapter. Rachel Vallieres Macias received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern Maine.
